When I finished writing the third part of “Grey,” there was some unclear feeling left. It seemed like the path of the Main Hero was complete, yet something remained unsaid… Someone among the great writers said that all adventure books end when the heroes find a treasure—after that, nothing interesting happens. I thought the same for a long time, and then I imagined such a situation and realized: that’s exactly when all the difficulties begin. Here, too: a son is born—a cool heir, whom everyone is supposed to respect and praise by default. But not so fast! At first glance—he’s just an ordinary guy. He hasn’t become a warrior yet, and he can’t be a mage—there are no signs of that. So what is there? There’s a dreadful reputation of the deceased father. It’s not too bad, as if, but on memory alone you can’t go far. And there’s nothing of his own yet.
And around him, so many enemies—what will become of his life?
