The landing on the planet went badly. Because of the enemy’s unexpected maneuver, the Union’s forces were scattered across the shattered world and cut off from one another. Despite the dire situation and the loss of almost all the guides, thanks to Alex’s actions and his squad of fearless soldiers, they manage to break free from the enemy’s clutches and conduct a regrouping. But time still works against them. The enemy has dug in inside the now inaccessible shattered world and can strike again at any moment.

Alex’s time is also running out. Death and his gradual transformation into one of the creatures are pulling him further away from his former allies. Whose side will he choose—humans who turn their weapons against their new kindred? Or the offspring of the shattered world, hoping they will help him deal with his mutations? Whether one man—trapped between two warring sides, that tiny grain of sand that will tip the scales in favor of one of them—will ultimately show, only time can tell.
