The story takes place in 1839. Tensions between China and British India are rapidly rising due to contraband opium shipments interrupted by Beijing. British colonists, having lost huge sums of money and seeing no other solutions, declare war on China. A military expeditionary corps is being assembled to launch an attack and restore trade. “Ibis,” one of the ships of the British-Indian armada, sails to China from Bengal and finds itself right in the thick of the First Opium War.
