In hotel rooms in Sverdlovsk, Minsk, and Leningrad, the bodies of young men are found—killed by a fatal dose of a potent sleeping drug. As the investigation found out, the victims did not know each other. The only thing they had in common was that at the time of the murders all three had a large sum of money meant to buy a car. It is likely that near the store someone approached the unfortunate men and offered to help them buy a “Volga” without waiting in line. Then they would go together to the hotel to wash down the deal in the room and discuss the details. The criminals added sleeping pills to the vodka; after robbing the sleeping victim, they left. Judging by the handwriting, it was the same gang at work. Colonel Kostenko and personnel from the special units of the Georgian and Armenian Ministries of Internal Affairs begin a joint investigation.
