“Time Regained” is the seventh and final part of Proust’s epic “In Search of Lost Time.” The central idea of Proust’s epic is that Time can be regained only through turning to the sublime. By exploring Time, the hero of the cycle ultimately becomes a writer—and, by writing down Time on paper (or rather, not Time itself, but rather hints of it, echoes of the past, his inner parallels and analogies that bring him back to childhood and youth), he regains Time. Creativity, according to Proust, is the ability to go back, immersing oneself in those earlier sensations and long-forgotten experiences.
