It is said that the law has no retroactive effect. Yes—only not the law of human relationships. Can family feelings, love, friendship, honor, and a duty to serve be confined within strict time limits? How do you determine the starting point for these notions? They are outside time—if we are talking about people who are truly devoted to their calling.
