By definition, some planet in a galaxy has to be the harshest, the most merciless, and the most formidable. And if Pirr wasn’t exactly that, then at least a little less than completely.
Jason DinAlte is a special character who still stands apart from the representatives of the genre. On the Unconquerable planet, each resident has a mountain of muscles, a steel jaw, and iron fists with abilities an order of magnitude greater than those of the protagonist—who turns out to be the weakest link in a society of real heroes.
Meanwhile, Pirr’s flora and fauna are steadily—and with rare efficiency—getting rid of the aliens.
Social, anti-war, humanistic, and planetary science fiction—everything is equally applicable to this exciting, surprisingly simple, and outstanding work.
