Alex Shan-Girey, a writer of the first rank, decides that he must get himself back and regain freedom. And so he breaks up with Manya Polivanova— the woman of his whole life, and incidentally also the author of popular detective novels. In his life, nobody has the right to take up so much space. He—Alex Shan-Girey—can’t stand being anything but free.

And Manya Polivanova can’t stand lies and human suffering. So if Alex for some reason decided to “free himself”—please! She needs to save Vladimir Beregovoy, head of the IT department at the publishing house “Alphabet,” who ends up in an almost mystical story involving a vanished corpse. The corpse evaporates from the home of TV star Sergey Balashov—and turns out to already be in Beregovoy’s car trunk. But it’s the corpse of another person. And as it turns out, that doomed house was not Balashov’s after all…
