Ilya was an ordinary engineer—his whole life he studied, believing he knew how stars are born and die, how to build an airplane, and how to launch a chain reaction. But one day he ended up in another world, on another planet, where descendants of people who had arrived there back in the Neolithic era live. There he discovered what was destroying his worldview—magic. He is convinced that two mysteries—two secrets: his transfer to another world and magic—must have something in common. He believes that if he solves the mystery of magic, he’ll be able to return home.
