The Tsarevich Dmitry didn’t die! By some miracle he was transported to the beginning of the 21st century, grew up in a wealthy adoptive family, and received an excellent technical education at Bauman Moscow State Technical University. And he was already getting ready to live a calm, comfortable life—enjoying all the benefits of civilization—until a chance event threw him right into the depths of the civil war, known to later generations as the Time of Troubles.
Caught right in the thick of events, Dmitry didn’t disgrace his father—Ivan the Terrible! He restored the throne after the death of Boris Godunov, carried out large-scale military reforms, cut down the boyar opposition, defeated the Polish and Swedish invaders, while also taking Livonia and holding on to Smolensk.
So what awaits him next? The destruction of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth? The capture of Crimea and Little Russia? Or an immediate landing in Istanbul?
A False Dmitry? Yes. But it’s a completely different False Dmitry.
