Writer Sergey Baranov, after trouble in his family and a quarrel at the publishing house that resulted in the contract being terminated, goes away to rest in the countryside. In the rented cottage he finds old notebooks from which he draws inspiration for writing a new novel. And upon his return to the city, he is offered to become a flagship writer at the publishing house of one of the richest conglomerates.
