Wars begin and end, but the hidden confrontation between countries never ceases. There will always be people hunting for others’ secrets, and people guarding those secrets. Not knights on white steeds, but knights of cloak and dagger. Inconspicuous workers of the secret services.
Sebastian Mart is one of the best at what he does, but even he is only a card in a constantly shuffled deck. The alignments change, the opponents change: warlocks, drug dealers, traitors in their own ranks, while the real players remain in the shadows. Try to get close to them, and you will immediately face the need to choose: fulfill your duty or save those dear to you. The abyss or the scaffold — there is little choice.
Note:[\/i]
“Pestilence” is the third book in the Exorcist cycle (the first chapter was published in the collection “The Emperor’s Sword”).
Plot-wise, the novel is in no way connected to the first dilogy, but although the text contains the necessary references, prior acquaintance with “Cursed Metal” and “Reaper” would not be superfluous.
Unlike the previous books, the narrative is told exclusively from Sebastian Mart’s point of view. Still, it will not do without old acquaintances.
Form — a novel in interrogations.
