The action of the novel “Metro 2034” takes place in the universe described in the first part of the diptych, but it is not a direct continuation of the first novel.
The whole world is destroyed by nuclear war. The remnants of humanity spend their last days in bunkers and bomb shelters, the largest of which is the Moscow Metro… Everyone who ended up there when the warheads fell on the capital survived. For those who endured after Judgment Day, the metro became a new Noah’s Ark. The surface of the planet is contaminated with radiation and populated by monsters. From now on, life is possible only underground. Stations have turned into city-states, and in the tunnels reigns darkness and fear. The inhabitants of Sevastopolskaya—a small underground Sparta—survive on their station through incredible efforts and defend it.
But one day Sevastopolskaya is cut off from the larger metro, and all its residents face terrible death. To save people, a true hero is needed.
