A private detective in Vienna, Peter Hogarth, had to take on his own investigation when his brother Kurt was suspected of murder—the killing of Dr. Abel Ostrovsky. The retired physician’s body, brutally disfigured by torture, was found in a house on the outskirts of Vienna. Seemingly, a mysterious video that Ostrovsky hid shortly before his death should help Hogarth prove his brother’s innocence. However, the nine-minute sequence of black-and-white footage appears to contain nothing puzzling. Then why is Hogarth not the only one who is very eager to get hold of this recording? Before long, it becomes clear that he has entered a race against the killer, who leaves a bloody trail across the entire city. Attempts to get to the truth lead Hogarth to a mysterious old mill beyond the city gates…
