The Copper Gauntlet

The famous wizard school Magisterium is deep underground. Children with special powers and talents study there. Thanks to strict selection and extremely harsh trials, only the winners graduate. After all, who else can fight the Enemy of Death—the powerful magician who embodies pure evil? That’s why learning magic is almost the same as signing your own death sentence. Of course, whether they want it or not, magic is in their blood.

“One of you will fall. One of you will die. And one dead already a long time ago.” I know about this prophecy and I understand perfectly well that one of the three is me. My life hangs by a thread—as does my father’s life, who is suspected of kidnapping a powerful alchemical weapon. And now I and my friends must find that alka­geist at any cost.

After all, it is the only force capable of stopping the Enemy of Death. And if my father has taken it, it’s terrifying to think what will happen to him—along with all of us, and especially with me, given who I really am…
