“Dragon Age” is a popular computer game in the dark fantasy genre, which has won many awards. After the death of the Circle of mages in Thedas, chaos reigned. Some mages are close to rebellion against their tireless guardians—the templars’ order—while others fight to preserve stability under the relentless pressure of change. In the majestic White Spire, the center of templar power in Val Royeaux, this conflict reaches its highest pitch. And then the Seekers from a secret and very powerful branch of the order decide to take control of the tower themselves in order to restore—no matter the price—the former iron order. To make matters worse, in the worst possible place on every level of the White Spire, a mysterious murderer roams, invisible to everyone except one mage. Since that mage is Rys, he becomes the chief suspect. He can’t prove his innocence, but the ability to communicate with spirits grants him a stay of execution: a risky journey to the bleak wastelands in the west of Orlais lies ahead. In this journey, Rys’s fate will intertwine closely with the fates of a beautiful templar woman, a certain stray soul, and Wynne—the heroine of the war against the Blight. Together they will uncover a secret that will forever decide the fate of all mages of Thedas.
