This book is dedicated to our mothers, grandmothers, and their mothers. In every family there is an old, tattered notebook with torn edges. It contains recipes for dishes tested by time. Usually they’re fairly simple to prepare and, at the same time, tasty and not expensive. When I take out my mother’s or grandmother’s notebook, I immediately remember cheerful get-togethers, their friends, songs with guitar— and our family’s hospitable, warm home. They knew and loved to cook, and happily gathered the whole family around their generous, hospitable table. The recipes from the book are taken from the notebooks of my mother, Valeria Mikhailovna Severskaya, and her friend, Irina Lvovna Pokhlopko. Bon appétit to you all! Send me your family’s signature recipes on VK. I’ll cook the dishes as a trial myself, then I’ll present them to my readers— and I will definitely mention you.
