The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation is conducting a large-scale experiment to change the past. In 1854, a battalion of marines is supposed to be sent to the Crimean War aboard a large landing ship. But what if something goes wrong and passengers get caught in a time funnel—namely the hydrocruiser “Almaz” and the destroyer “Zavetny” from 1916? The Anglo-French-Turkish invasion will be met not by supermodern warships, but by Russian sailors and aviators of the First World War. Can plywood “tower” transports with small-caliber bombs do damage to English steam-freights-fregates, and can torpedoes from the destroyer send the French sailing battleships to the bottom? For Black Sea sailors, fighting an enemy rushing toward Sevastopol is nothing new!
