“There’s no point building a path to India until control of Kustovoy is taken,” the emperor said sternly. “Have you been there?”
“Not yet, only heard of it,” I answered. “They say it’s a free city… in the sense that it’s not part of Russia.”
“It isn’t,” agreed the ruler. “And I don’t have that many free troops to take Kustovoy by storm. Here we need to act more subtly.”
“More subtly—that’s how?” I tightened inside, already sensing that this time the Tsar-bатюшка would send me to “take under control” an entire independent region.
