A journalistic investigation in a quiet cottage settlement unexpectedly turns into a chase for a maniac, and the key “sleuth” here is the bold cat Vasily—who knows all the secrets, but is in no hurry to reveal them.

In a suburban settlement near St. Petersburg, strange things begin to happen, and the owner of the place can’t find peace. Dasha comes there to sort everything out as a journalist, bringing along the impudent cat Vasily and her aunt Margarita, who has suddenly fallen on their heads. Very soon they find themselves right at the center of events that are rapidly gaining dangerous momentum. Unexplained deaths, ghosts of the past, and a killer hiding somewhere nearby. Love and jealousy, old shadows, and the search for the true maniac intertwine in Dasha’s life. Will she be able to endure the trials and understand where her true feelings lie? And what, exactly, does cat Vasily “think” about all of this?..
