New and thought-provoking evolutionary discoveries.
Volume three of the famous “Evolution of Man” tells about new findings made over the past ten years by archaeologists, paleoanthropologists, ethologists, and geneticists—as well as new theories that allow us to understand our origins more fully and in greater depth. With the light of new data, some earlier conclusions can be viewed from a different angle, and sometimes new interpretations can be proposed. For example, to explain the surprisingly rapid increase in brain volume during the evolution of the genus Homo, a new promising idea was proposed: the “cultural drive” theory, or the co-evolution of the brain, social learning, and culture.
