Feeding the Crocodile Khufu

Three young people end up at a performance by some magician. They’re not impressed by his act, but the audio recording—on a cassette—of the magician’s performance, which the heroes listened to, turned out to be quite interesting and told the story of a trick called “Feeding Khufu’s Crocodile.” It was as mysterious as the trick itself.

Of all the Ancient Egypt magicians, none enjoyed such honor as the great Dedi, who lived during Pharaoh Khufu’s reign. He resurrected the dead, changed the course of rivers, caused eclipses, and created strange animals—lions with eagle wings and horses with spider legs. He showed the pharaoh paintings of other worlds, stunning him with their grandeur and beauty. They said he could connect present with past and future, changing the natural course of things. Stories of his miracles were recorded on three obelisks—no one had ever been granted such a privilege. The pharaoh brought him close, showered him with affection—and then suddenly ordered him executed…
