Twenty years ago, nuclear war began and ended. Eternal winter has come. The remnants of humanity are trying to survive however they can. In the small town of Nadezhdinsk in the Kaluga region lives a young man, Nikolai Vasnetsov. His life has long settled into a routine—work detail, guard duty, sleep. But one day Russian cosmonauts arrive in the town in a lunar rover; they had gone into space before the war.
The cosmonauts tell of an American installation in Alaska that still affects the Earth’s climate — HAARP. Because of its operation, it is getting colder and colder on Earth. And if humanity wants to survive and see spring on Earth, HAARP must be shut down. Nikolai joins a group that is sent to Alaska to carry out this dangerous mission.
