Description
On the planet Terra, which its inhabitants for various reasons take for Earth, everyone is forced to travel along the only continent following the tropic and return to the starting point every year. Local authorities try to hide the true structure of the world by spreading a doctrine that combines monotheistic religion and pseudo-scientific ideas known as “the doctrine of twelve months.” Those in power live in perpetual July and are protected by an army that controls June and August, while the rest of the population spends their lives in winter, autumn, and spring conditions. Each month has its own interests, which often conflict with the interests of neighboring months and with those who rule in summer—leading to internal wars and ultimately to a large-scale conflict. The novel presents five heroes from different months, each with their own distinct traits, without any clear separation into “good” and “bad.” Their fates intertwine as the war unfolds, forcing everyone to make a complicated and sometimes tragic choice.
