The novel “The Map of Time” by the Spanish writer Felix Palma can be called historical, adventurous, or science fiction—and any of these descriptions would be true. The action takes place in late-19th-century London, in an era when major scientific discoveries make people believe they can achieve the impossible—say, travel through time. Some wanted to visit the future, while others, on the contrary, wanted to be in the past—not only to visit it, but also to change it. But can the past be changed? Can you rewrite History? These questions make writer H. G. Wells think about them when he finds himself in an utterly incredible situation worthy of the plots of his own fantastic works.
“The Map of Time,” which received Spain’s “Ateneo de Sevilla” award, has already been published in the USA, England, Japan, France, Australia, Norway, Italy, and other countries. In Germany, based on readers’ votes, it took second place in the list of the best books of 2010.
