This is the first novel in the series, though it stands on its own—you can listen to it without waiting for the next ones.
In this novel, Christopher Moore creates his own story and the rules of the “world of vampires,” and throws it all onto his favorite city, San Francisco.
Who will protect the city? As always with Moore—there are nothing but strange-strange characters and eccentrics! He loves these odd, not-heroic heroes with a strange kind of love and places them in situations that even a heroic hero would be very hard-pressed to understand… And the setting—San Francisco—looks in the book like a home for gays, the crazy, drug addicts, bandits, homeless people, insane artists, ethnic communities, sexual maniacs, and businessmen (the worst kind)—and now, of course, vampires have appeared too!
As always, it’s necessary to warn about obscene language and scenes of violence. There’s plenty of it in the book! Don’t let children listen to it, and don’t let people without a sense of humor listen to it either.
