An old Finnish legend says that the multicolored flashes of the northern lights are born from the swish of fluffy tails… of foxes. But not ordinary ones — these are the magical foxes of the Borealis lineage, who have lived for a thousand years on Mount Iivari, near the village of Lieska in Finnish Ostrobothnia. One day, the last Borealis broke an ancient custom and came under the curse of the god of thunder and lightning Ukko: in his anger, he took away her gift of lighting up the night sky.
