Pope Alexander VI (Rodrigo Borgia), with the help of the monk Domenico Tansinini, learns about the legendary «Treatise on Artifacts», whose authorship is attributed to Blessed Augustine. The Pope discovers that there are far more magical figurines in the world than he had thought—and decides to collect as many as possible. Borgia manages to find 13 people in Rome—the owners of the objects. But the Pope realizes that such a large number of artifacts would simply kill him, and he devises a clever plan: the figurines will not belong to him personally, but will remain forever in the Vatican—ensuring the papal throne’s eternal power.
