Born in St. Petersburg. Made her debut with the story “Evgesha and Annyushka” (“Znamya,” no. 7, 1990). Since that moment and up to the present—multiple publications in the magazines “Novy Mir,” “Znamya,” “Volga,” “Ural,” “Neva,” and others. Five books of prose have been published in Russia and six abroad. She has participated in numerous Russian and foreign anthologies. Her prose has been translated into English, Finnish, German, Swedish, Japanese, Italian, French, Dutch, Norwegian, Slovak, Slovenian, Estonian, Latvian. She herself translated poetry from Italian, Dutch, Neo-Greek, English, and Slovene languages, as well as Flemish prose. Since 1995 she has lived in the Netherlands.
