It shouldn’t have happened. But it happened the way it did. Looking at the surrounding world from the familiar— and, as it turns out, compared to this, very comfortable—reality, you understand that we had only a few chances to take the correct trajectory. Here, those chances have been lost forever. And none of the residents of Russia-2 know that everything could have turned out completely differently. Not in kitchen fantasies, but in reality. If only one could tell: “You know, there’s a Russia where…” But this is really forever.
Still, it’s hard and terrifying to watch from the outside as a betrayed country falls apart, suffering. And it’s also a shame for ordinary people who haven’t changed at all—take them out of here, and they’ll quickly get used to our world. Why not?
