After years away, Colbern returns to Red Bluff, a small town in the American South where he grew up. What draws him back—this thirty-year-old man—back to these places? The tragic events that happened here left an indelible mark on his life: he was still a child when he witnessed his father’s suicide. Only with time did Colbern learn about the dramatic events in their family that took place even before he was born.
Today Red Bluff is slowly dying—the town is surrounded by increasingly dense forests, and its residents seem to simply imitate life. Only mysterious disappearances can shake this place of apathy. Something is clearly wrong here, and soon Colbern must find out what exactly is going on.
