If a programmer engages in industrial espionage, they must be ready for the fact that one day internal security will catch them. And then the spy won’t fare well, no matter how noble their intentions are. The main character—who worked at a company that created the largest virtual world—was neither arrested nor liquidated. Instead, they were locked away forever in virtual reality.
And to make the chances of getting out as close to zero as possible, his character was made into a mute zombie buried in a grave—forced to die again and again from suffocation and then resurrect anew. What’s more, the character’s skills don’t level up at all—except for one “useless” perception. It seems there is no way out… But a programmer—of course—knows how to find a loophole in the intricate workings of the virtual world that has become his crypt.
We present the audio version of the novel “The Demise of Fanmir,” which concludes the series “The Dead Inquisitor.”
Escaping from virtual imprisonment, the being called Bes remembers other captives who, like him only recently, are still trapped in the game—dying endlessly and coming back. He manages to infiltrate a clan closely tied to the game’s administration. This will allow Bes to try to free the virtual prisoners. Are the leaders of top clans ready to give up all benefits to preserve a human face? The stakes in the coming showdown will be the fates of millions of players for whom Fanmir is far more than just a game.
