After the liberation and restoration of Earth, athletes from different parts of the world flock to the Goodwill Games, but some arrive with new dangerous doping: a drug called Fire, produced from the organs of the Others. The military wants to get hold of it. A pharmaceutical tycoon, Daniel Grant, wants it too. And the only place where the necessary ingredient can be found is in a dying world of the Others.
