“Mom, who came to us?” the son runs into the hallway and presses himself against my leg. “Oh, uncle—what’s your name?” He stares at the man standing in the doorway with wide eyes. And he doesn’t even suspect that the person in front of him is his own father. “You… have a child?” the ex blurts out, struggling to pronounce the words. He drills the boy with his gaze, then turns his attention to me—without a word, knocking the ground out from under my feet. I loved him more than life, and I still do—but I’ll never forgive betrayal! I won’t forgive that the very best and brightest moments of my life turned out to be nothing but lies. A game.
