Alan Goodyer is one of the best insurance agents in the city. If anyone knows his job, it’s him. Goodyer can craft an agreement in such a way that the company won’t lose money when a “not quite” insured event occurs. And it was he who signed the contract with aspiring actress Susan Geller. The agreement contained a mass of clauses freeing the company from payments.

It seemed impossible to find a reason that would really force them to give up money—but Susan still “managed” to do it. She died from blood loss, which wasn’t in the contract. So they’ll have to pay.

And he’s in for the most unexpected discoveries—because the case of the dead Susan Geller is only the tip of the iceberg.
