The Twelve Chairs

Have you read or listened to the дилогия "Twelve Chairs" and "The Golden Calf" by Ilf and Petrov? Any educated person will say, "Of course, I read it!" Or: "Of course, I listened!" But in reality: "Of course not!!"

Because until now this дилогия has been published not in full and not in the form the authors wrote it, but in the form that was "allowed"—by Soviet editors and Soviet censorship. But it’s not because it was Soviet, so everything is bad—back then the times were like that!

Well, times change. Some restrictions are lifted, and for the first time in history the complete edition of the дилогия "Twelve Chairs" and "The Golden Calf" has seen the light—restored by well-known philologists David Feldman and Mikhail Odessky. The reader—just like the listener—will learn that the novel began nothing like how we’re used to reading it. And it ended completely differently, too.
