If you are reading these lines… what I’m saying! Of course you are reading them, otherwise how would they appear from nothingness? So, at least for the next half century, neither me nor my friend Sherlock Holmes is on this planet. There’s little comfort in that, but it’s not much of a tragedy either: chances are new detectives have been found, and new methods of investigation. And the tribe of healers, without a doubt, easily did without Doctor Watson—especially since he didn’t cure so many ailments in his lifetime. If the lives I extended could be stretched into one, the distance won from death would have amounted to a hundred—two hundred years of moderate existence on oatmeal with bacon for some generalized human being.
