Boys don’t keep personal diaries. Or do they?
Greg Heffley goes to school, and his life is not easy. He’s called to the board on exactly the day when he… well, didn’t finish something. During breaks and after school, tall, scary, angry older students surround him. The girls snicker at him and even notice the tiniest pimple that popped up under his ear. Nobody understands how hard Greg’s life is—not his parents, not his close friends.
When Greg’s friend Rowley suddenly becomes popular, Greg tries to take advantage of his popularity and benefit from it. However, without meaning to, Greg’s actions trigger a chain of events that forces the boys’ friendship to face the toughest test.
