An annotation from the first volume (Since the text for the third volume was eaten by a tyrannosaurus. The authors couldn’t catch up and snatch the annotation back, you understand why):

A sapper makes mistakes twice in life. When choosing a profession—and when deciding that he’s too old for yet another war.

For thirty years I served in the army. Bridges, tripwires, mines—I've always known exactly where to hit so the structure would collapse.

Now my body is in stasis on Earth, and my mind is in an Avatar on a planet in another world, where the dinosaurs never went extinct. Instead of a base, they dumped me onto a junkyard. And the worst part is: I ended up there naked and without weapons. To make it worse, they assigned me an AI assistant that snarks more often than it helps.

My son is missing from the base “Vostok-5,” and the corporation washed its hands of it. And I have to find him!

Except first I’ll deal with the raptor. Which has already thrust its head into my capsule and is staring at me like I’m breakfast!
