Curing people is the calling of the mage of life.
But making them better? Even the Light can’t manage that. And yet everyone has to be treated—thieves, murderers, the poor, aristocrats… without distinguishing who is good and who is bad. Even human gratitude varies.
Someone will give the last they have, someone will simply say thank you, and someone will start thinking about how to use the medicine for their own ends. Or, more noblely— for the interests of the country and the Crown.
And with such people it’s hardest of all. Vetana can’t refuse their help. A danger from the past catches up with the girl, and only those who possess power and might can protect her. But what will they make her pay for their help?
