Three are sent to search for the “wolf in human form”: the adopted son of the murdered woman, an old shepherd, and the Parisian Camille Forestier—the elusive love of Adamsberg. As for the commissioner himself, he doesn’t believe in werewolves and conducts the investigation in the way only he knows. A TV film was made based on the novel, and the book itself has received three literary awards.

Fred Vargas’s Adamsberg novels have been translated into dozens of languages and collected a significant array of national and international awards, including three British “Duncan Laurie’s Daggers” and the Princess of Asturias Award known as the “Spanish Nobel.”
