Stanley Broadhurst was a child when his father abandoned the family and left. As an adult, Stanley spends many years searching for his father. One day, he argues with his wife Gene and moves to his mother’s country house, accompanied by a young blonde beauty—and taking along his six-year-old son Ronnie.
When Gene hears that the Broadhurst country house is in dangerously close proximity to a forest fire, she, with a private detective, rushes to the disaster zone to find her son. Near the house, they find Stanley’s body—but the boy and the blonde woman disappear without a trace.
