Behemoth

Five years after the events of “The Tumble/Whirlpool,” the corporate elite of North America hides from chaos and epidemics on the deep-water station “Atlantis,” where it has to live side by side with rifters—people adapted to life at great depths. Former enemies have united out of fear of the outside world, but the world hasn’t forgotten them and wants to call everyone to account. The station’s residents don’t yet know that their truce with one another could turn into full-scale war—that the very microbe that destroys all life on the Earth’s surface has changed and become even more lethal—and that on land, power now belongs to real monsters, both actual and virtual.

But amid horror and anarchy, hope appears: a cure capable of healing not only people, but the entire biosphere of Earth. The question is: won’t it end up more frightening than any disease?
