The language and imagery in the book are so vivid, bright, and memorable that the reader seems to feel everything that happens on the pages of “White Curse” firsthand. The author is a classic of Soviet adventure fiction. The extraordinary humor with which the novella is written will leave no one indifferent; besides, the book is read in one breath. It is no accident that the epigraph to this novella is formed by lines from Vladimir Vysotsky: “The mountains sleep, breathing in the clouds, Exhaling snow avalanches...”. The book is dedicated to avalanche workers—people who devoted their lives to the mountains.
