An investigation into a ritual murder in provincial Yekaterinodar led to the discovery of an entire conspiracy—exposing it could trigger an interspecies war. Experienced investigator Anton Lisovoy got deeply entangled in this matter, and along the way he also managed to thoroughly ruin his relationship with the governor of the region—a rather spiteful elf who ran his criminal schemes.

Fortunately for Anton, one elderly orc—the head of the department for combating especially dangerous magical crimes—remained his friend. With his help, Lisovoy plans to transfer to the Silver Section, the federal service that controls forbidden magic.

He also has plans to “set up” this girl—from a parallel world. And to make sure that no one finds out that she is the only person on the planet who possesses elemental magic.
