Although most of B. Pasternak’s contemporaries initially saw him primarily as a poet, he himself always preferred prose, which, in his view, most fully conveys the author’s perception of the world. From his very first steps in prose, he dreamed of writing a novel. As a result of repeated attempts to bring this idea to print in different years, various stories and tales appeared.
