The Bible in a modern Russian translation
The new Russian edition of the Bible is a joint project of the Bible Interpreters (BBI) and the Bible Translation Institute in Zaoksky. The new translation was carried out under the auspices of the Bible Translation Institute in Zaoksky by a team of leading Russian scholars—Bible scholars and philologists—belonging to different Christian denominations. It was precisely this joint work that made it possible to produce a translation free from narrow denominational restrictions, while revealing the depth of the Sacred Scripture, equally significant for all Christians. The purpose of this edition is to offer the reader not only an accurate translation of the Bible based on the latest scholarly editions of ancient texts and the most recent achievements of modern biblical studies, but also a художественно convincing, expressed in contemporary Russian, style. The biblical text is read by the Soviet and Russian theater, film, and dubbing actor Nikita Yuryevich Semyonov-Prozorovsky.
