“Dawns of the East” is a continuation of the cycle “The Sea Wolf,” the story of an atomic submarine “Voronezh” being thrown into 1942. “Russia often managed to win wars, but far more rarely was it able to win the peace.” Six years have passed since the Victory that happened in this world in 1944. In this world there will be no Korean War, because there is only one Korea—the DPRK. But in 1950 the war in China is still raging—indeed, Mao, Chiang Kai-shek, and of course the USA are sharpening their teeth on Soviet Manchuria. Here the atomic “mushrooms” never grew over Hiroshima and Nagasaki—and the first atomic bombs will be dropped on China. Only the USSR has something worthy to answer with!
