Description
When the German army occupied France in 1940, Pelham Grenville Wodehouse and his wife Ethel were living on the northern coast of France in Le Touquet. From there he ended up in an internment camp for foreign nationals, where he spent about a year. Upon his release from the camp, Wodehouse broadcast on German radio, which was transmitting to listeners in the USA, a cycle of five programmes in which he told his American readers about "how to become an internee without losing heart." This cycle of broadcasts proved a tragedy for the talented writer: in England he was accused of collaborating with the German authorities, which led to a persecution of the writer. As time passed, the accusations of treason were lifted from Wodehouse. But he never returned to England again…

This small project collects the texts of the broadcasts that Wodehouse gave on German radio at the time, as well as an introductory article by Natalya Trauberg, translator of many of Wodehouse's literary works.
