A story about an extraordinary woman who strives to preserve her dignity in any circumstances. A tale filled with deep emotions and honesty. The image of the main heroine was based on the actress of the Satire Theater, Valentina Georgievna Tokarskaya. Anna, a star of Soviet cinema and the music hall, is surrounded by famous actors and writers. But war changes everything: she ends up in German captivity and then in Vorkuta, where she participates in operettas of the “serf” theater beyond the Arctic Circle. For the actors, it is not only service to art, but also a way to survive. In this remote land, Anna faces unexpected encounters and finds love. The book is dedicated to Valentina Tokarskaya, People’s Artist of Russia, whose life was subjected to the trials of the twentieth century.
